Each year, the Sportsmanship Award honors an individual who exemplifies the true spirit of sportsmanship, demonstrated not only through actions on the course but also through character, compassion, and commitment off the course as well.

This year, we are honored to recognize Praveen Neppalli.

Praveen has recently experienced the tremendous loss of his father. In the midst of that loss, he has chosen to honor his father’s memory in a truly meaningful way: by giving back to others and assisting those in need.

Through The Prasad Foundation, Praveen is working to ease hardship and expand opportunity for children and families facing poverty. The foundation primarily collaborates with humanitarian organizations whose reach and resources can extend far beyond what any one individual or organization could accomplish alone.

Right now, The Prasad Foundation is raising funds to support World Central Kitchen and its relief efforts in Nepal following the devastating floods that have affected communities nationwide. World Central Kitchen has been providing meals and establishing community kitchens in some of the hardest-hit areas.

What makes Praveen’s efforts especially meaningful is that he is turning a personal loss into an opportunity to help others. He is carrying forward his father’s memory not simply through words, but through service, compassion, and action.

This spirit embodies the core values represented by this award.

Sportsmanship is about more than competition. It is about character. It is about how we treat others, how we respond when life becomes difficult, and how we use the opportunities we have to make a difference in others' lives.
